Alfredo Benso received the MS degree in computer engineering and the PhD degree in information technologies, both from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where he is working as a tenured associate professor of computer engineering.

His current research interests include bioinformatics, and system biology. He is also actively involved in the Computer Society, where he has been a leading volunteer for several projects. He is a Computer Society Golden Core Member, and a senior member of the IEEE.
