There is widespread belief that current models of drug discovery and development need revamping and reinvention in order to make pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) more predictable, reliable, and less costly.
OSDD Research Unit aims to provide an informatic framework based on Cloud technologies to support the creation of open networks able to run industrial-standard pharmaceutical projects at a reduced cost.
OSDD Research unit is composed of three research groups:
- Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (ISMB) [leaded by Eng. Olivier Terzo ],
- Inter-university Consortium for Informatics (CINI) [leaded by Prof. Alfredo Benso from Politecnico di Torino],
- BioDigitalValley [company leaded by Dr. Enrico Bucci]
- The operating research headquarter is located in the technology center of Verres.
The OSDD infrastructure will be validated with a pilot discovery project on genetic risk factors of Parkinson’s disease in about one hundred subjects with genomic techniques.
